The Practice that Unlocks the Door of Destiny

نَحْمَدُہُ وَ نُصَلّیِ عَلٰی رَسُولِہِ الْکَرِیْمْ اَمّا بَعْدْ

Sometimes a person spends years in worship and remembrance, yet circumstances remain unchanged. At such times, the heart longs for a practice that can shake the soul and turn the course of destiny.

The friends of Allah (Awliya) truly possessed certain practices and secrets that ordinary people rarely knew. I will share with you some of these deep insights:

1. Khalwah (Journey of Solitude)
The Awliya say: when all paths are blocked, reduce contact with people and seek solitude with Allah.

  • Fix a time (like midnight or the time of Tahajjud).

  • In a dark room or under the open sky, speak only to Allah.

  • Present every hardship, every pain, every question – not in words, but in tears.

Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh (رح) said:
“Tears are a language that Allah never rejects.”

2. Khidmat al-Khalq (Service of Creation)
The secret of the Awliya is that when supplications seem unanswered, serve Allah’s creation.

  • Feed the hungry.

  • Visit the sick.

  • Help an orphan.

Hazrat Ali Hujwiri (رح) wrote:
“Sometimes bringing a smile to the face of an oppressed person achieves what a thousand prostrations cannot.”

3. Sukoot (The Practice of Silence)
The Awliya revealed this secret:
When circumstances don’t change, speak less, think less, eat less.
Listen more, and silently repeat Allah’s Name within your heart.

Hazrat Junaid Baghdadi (رح) said:
“The door of the heart opens when the tongue is closed and the soul remembers Allah’s Name.”

4. The Secret of Gratitude (Shukr)
The Awliya taught: when nothing changes, turn away from complaints and towards gratitude.

  • Count three blessings every day and thank Allah for them.

  • Gratitude changes the heart before it changes circumstances.

The Qur’an says: “If you are grateful, I will surely increase you.” (Ibrahim: 7)

5. The Secret of the Awliya: Pray Not for Yourself, but for Others
The Awliya discovered that when they stopped praying for themselves and began praying for others, their own destinies began to change.

  • Pray for healing for the sick.

  • Pray for provision for the poor.

  • Pray for relief for the distressed.

The Hadith says: “When a Muslim prays for his brother in his absence, the angel says: Ameen, and the same is for you.” (Muslim)

These are the “unusual secrets” of the Awliya – changing the style of worship, embracing gratitude and silence, and most importantly, weeping and praying for others.

Now I will tell you about the practice that unties the knots of destiny.
There are three (3) practices to be done daily, two (2) practices only once a week, and along with this, there are certain spiritual principles.

The Practice that Unties the Knots of Destiny

Daily Routine (Day Practice):

1. Morning (after Fajr):

  • Recite أستغفر الله ربي من كل ذنب وأتوب إليه – 100 times.

  • Recite اللهم صل على محمد وعلى آل محمد – 100 times.

2. At any time of the day (preferably in solitude at a fixed time):

  • Place your hand on your chest and recite لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا الله – 300–500 times.
Read it with eyes closed, directing attention towards the heart.

3. Before sleeping at night:

  • Recite Ayat al-Kursi once, and Surah al-Inshirah (اَلَمْ نَشْرَحْ لَكَ صَدْرَكَ) three times, then blow over your chest.

  • Pray for others (especially the poor, sick, and oppressed).

Weekly Practice:

On the night of Tahajjud (at least once a week):

  • Pray two rak‘at of nafl salah purely for Allah’s pleasure.

  • After prayer, go into a long prostration and with full focus repeat as much as possible:
“يا فتّاح، افتح لي” Ya Fattahu, Iftah li (O Opener of doors, open for me).

  • After this, pray not only for yourself but also for others.

Service of Creation (at least once a week):
Feed a poor person, visit a sick one, or help an oppressed person.

The Awliya said: “Service of creation is the key to the door of mercy.”

Spiritual Rules

  • Silence: complain less, thank more.

  • Gratitude: count three blessings daily and thank Allah.

  • Tawakkul: act, but leave the results to Allah.

  • Sincerity: perform these deeds only for Allah, not for show.

The Promise of the Awliya

  • Prostration → loosens the knot of destiny.

  • Dhikr of لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا الله → unlocks the heart.

  • Service of creation → opens the door of mercy.

And when the three doors – of the heart, of destiny, and of mercy – all open, then blessings descend upon a person’s life beyond imagination.

May Allah remove all our hardships and grant us ease in this world and the Hereafter. Ameen!

I humbly request, if possible, to also remember this servant in your prayers.

جزاكم اللهُ خيرًا

The Humble: Sayyid Atiqurrahman (غُفِرَ لَهُ)
