In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

The Holy Qur’an mentions the lofty status, noble character, and immense mercy of the final Messenger of Allah, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, in many places. Among the most remarkable of these is Surah At-Tawbah (9:128), in which Allah Himself describes His Beloved Messenger ﷺ with qualities that deepen every believer’s love, respect, and admiration for him.

The Blessed Verse

Translation:

“There has certainly come to you a Messenger from among yourselves. Your suffering is distressing to him; he is deeply concerned for your well-being, and toward the believers he is Most Kind and Most Merciful.”

(Surah At-Tawbah 9:128)

The Meaning of “Ra’uf” and “Rahim”

Ra’uf (رَءُوف) means exceedingly kind, compassionate, tender-hearted, and deeply sensitive to the hardships of others.

Rahim (رَّحِيم) means immensely merciful, gracious, and always concerned for the welfare of his Ummah.

For this reason, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ constantly cared for the guidance, success, and salvation of his followers. His entire blessed life was devoted to serving humanity, inviting people to Allah, and leading them toward the straight path.
